Frequently asked questions
- How do I calculate my running pace?
- Divide your time by your distance. For example, 50 minutes over 10 km is 5:00 min/km. This calculator does it instantly and also converts to min/mile, km/h and mph.
- What pace do I need for a sub-4-hour marathon?
- 5:41 min/km, or 9:09 min/mile. For sub-3:30 you need 4:59 min/km, and sub-3:00 requires 4:16 min/km.
- What's the difference between pace and speed?
- Pace is time per distance (min/km or min/mile); speed is distance per time (km/h or mph). They're inverses: 5:00 min/km equals exactly 12 km/h.
- Is this pace calculator free?
- Yes — free, with no sign-up. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
